As the original rear axle of the Bentleys are subject to wear and ultimately failure, our client Maggs Vintage asked us to manufacture 6 long and 6 short replacement half-shafts.
The original shafts have an integral gear at one end and a spline the other, so firstly we machined the shaft from a solid bar and cut splines, the shafts were then sent for the gear to be cut, induction heat treating and finally chemical blackening. Once returned we ground the faces for bearing and seal fit.
