About us

To manufacture a new or replacement half-shaft we offer several options…

Welded – we use the original flange – Machine out the old shaft, manufacture the new one which once heat treated and straightening is welded in place – this is the most popular/cost efficient option. New shafts can be manufactured from EN30B for road use or S155/300M for competition use. Bearing surfaces are ground to size for correct fit. Welding – this is carried out under strict pre-heating and cooling conditions to avoid any weakening of the material. When required the weld is then machine finished making the ‘joint’ almost invisible.

Two piece – separate shaft and flange – New flange machined from EN32 with a broached spline and a new shaft with machined spline and thread on outer end for a lock nut – left/right thread option if required – as above shafts can be manufactured from EN30B or S155/300M the shaft alone is heat treated and straightened and then the bearing surface is ground to size for correct fit.

One-piece shaft and hub – created from solid billet – Machined from EN30B or S155/300M, heat-treated and straightened then the bearing surface is ground to size for correct fit. This option is the most expensive due to material waste and machining time, this is really only an option for smaller/shorter half-shafts – unless cost is not a consideration.

How to supply the information we need to quote and manufacture your uprated / replacement half-shafts.

Option 1: The easiest a most obvious way is to supply an existing sample shaft – even a broken one along with the hub/flange.

Option 2: If option 1 is not available then take a look at our “how to measure a half-shaft” along with the shaft length we will need the spline details – diameter, number of splines and depth/length of splines.
