At 60mm diameter these replacement Wind Turbine Shafts where some of the largest, most certainly the heaviest Brand had ever made.
The client supplied three very ‘used’ sample shafts, a 670mm x 60mm ‘Cardan’ Shaft plus a ‘High’ and ‘low’ speed shafts, all either with damaged splines or excessive where on bearing faces.
The replacement shafts where manufactured in EN24, heat-treated, straightened and then Chemically Blacked to provide corrosion protection.
All of the shafts had splines custom machined to suit the ‘standard’ GKN joint as well as the enormous ‘Wind Turbine sized’ 190x60mm joint.
