I therefore searched for a precision machine shop to produce the 38mm diameter floater shafts and drive shaft for my high horsepower drag car.
Brian Adams put me at my ease from the very first phone call. He understood my requirements and specification, had experience of manufacturing large diameter splined shafts and the manufacturing techniques required for costly aircraft metals that can absorb high shock loads.
I sourced my own Hy-Tuf (AMS6425) metal and Brian completed a successful splined and hardened sample as proof of concept. Brand’s final shafts are far superior to my originals manufactured in 1986 by the then world land speed record holding Summers Brothers, of Golden Rod fame, in California.
Brand’s machine shop is well organised and proof of their machine skills was ably demonstrated by samples of completed projects and a short tour of their facility. Communication at each project stage was informative and clear. Brian is an attentive listener, he shares his engineering expertise easily and Brand’s years of precision machining are reflected in every aspect of my successful project.
