Having seen an advert for a March 712 “in a million pieces” Paul Bason bought “tea chests full of bits and the monocoque with all the outer skins lying alongside it”, not realising it was in fact chassis #5 – an ex-works car bought by Lord Hesketh for James Hunt to drive in 1972.
After hundreds of hours of research Paul set about restoring the car to concourse condition. Now back running in the Hesketh Finance livery from Hunt’s time, Paul has successfully raced in Historic F2 for over 30 yrs.
